João Abel de Freitas’s life story told in a book

“Espreita Delas” is the pun that gives the title to the memoirs of João Abel de Freitas, FN hotelaria’s founder and chairman of the board of directors.

The presentation of this autobiographical work took place on April 28th, at Museu de Imprensa da Madeira (Madeira Press Museum), and brought together a large number of family members and friends.

The ceremony was attended by Miguel Albuquerque, President of the Regional Government of Madeira, Rubina Leal, President of the Legislative Assembly of Madeira, Eduardo Jesus, Regional Secretary for Tourism, Environment and Culture, Sónia Pereira, President of the Municipal Council of Câmara de Lobos, Alberto João Jardim, former President of the Regional Government of Madeira and author of the preface, as well as João Carlos Abreu, former Regional Secretary of Tourism and Culture, who honored this event with his presence and intervention, and Ricardo Miguel Oliveira, director of Diário de Notícias Madeira (local newspaper), responsible for the book’s edition.

From his childhood to the present day, João Abel de Freitas revisits his family, personal and professional life, with an emphasis on his military and business career.

A set of opinion articles published over 31 months in Diário de Notícias Madeira, is also part of this work, in which João Abel de Freitas shares his reflections on the most relevant topics in our society.

The proceeds from the sale of the book will go to Centro Social e Paroquial da Encarnação (local social and parish institution).

At this event and in connection with the publication of this book, a painting by the artist Helena Berenguer was also presented.

This is an autobiographical work that reflects responsibility, solidarity, perseverance, courage and the ability to overcome the greatest challenges, traits that deeply mark the personality of its author.
