Chef Olivier da Costa's 30-year career has brought vision, pioneering spirit, and an incredible ability to innovate and surprise to Portuguese gastronomy.

With a “menu” of successful gastronomic spaces and big brands, Chef Olivier surprised again by transforming his innovative Real Pérola “snack mar” (mar = portuguese word for ‘sea’) into an Italian osteria.

The restaurant originally opened in October 2024 in a 18th-century building in Lisbon. It was conceived as a "chic seafood restaurant" characterized by a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere. It paid homage to the Portuguese sea and tradition in a creative way. Having encountered some difficulties, it was necessary to reformulate a concept that had already been undergoing some adaptations for some time.

The current focus has shifted to Italian cuisine, and the restaurant, duly updated, has been renamed: Osteria La Famiglia by Olivier. The opening took place on October 2nd 2025, and the focus is now on simplicity and tradition, on the generosity of the Italian family table, as the restaurant's website states:

This new project translates into a warm, simple, and authentic experience, where dishes are placed in the centre of the table to be shared, recreating the most genuine moments of Italian culture: eating together, laughing, talking, and celebrating. More than just a restaurant, Osteria La Famiglia is an invitation to live each meal as if we were among family.

The name La Famiglia was chosen to represent the essence of Italian gastronomy. In Italy, it is around the family and the table that the most intense moments of sharing, conversation, and celebration are lived. More than just a name, La Famiglia is a manifesto of closeness: here, every guest is welcomed as if they were part of the home.

For Real Pérola, FN hotelaria supplied and installed hotel equipment for the following zones: kitchen, pantries, bar, wine displays, cold storage, refrigerated displays and ice area.

This rapid transformation of a restaurant space demonstrates the importance of versatility as an essential factor in selecting the technical solutions implemented.
