Izakaya Lisboa

Restaurant Industry 18 November 2025

November 2025 marks the moment when the Izakaya brand took an important step with its expansion to Lisbon. After the success of the Cascais restaurant, chef Tiago Penão found the perfect space for Izakaya Lisboa in Príncipe Real.

An old pottery factory found in a back alley has been transformed into a Japanese tavern. The new restaurant brings the flavors and nighttime aesthetics of Tokyo: "An authentic Japanese tavern experience".

In Príncipe Real, Izakaya takes on a new life, retaining its Japanese soul, now with the pulse of Lisbon. An urban space, warm and vibrant, where the counter remains the heart of the experience. Here, the energy of Tokyo’s yokocho intersects with the spirit of the city, creating a place to eat, toast, and stay”, you can read on the restaurant's website.

Surrounded by vibrant energy, beneath the neon lights and beyond the counter, rises the fully open kitchen, where techniques, aromas, and flavors intertwine under the watchful eye of chef Isaac Jorge.

The kitchen equipment (production, pantry and pastry), bar equipment, wine displays, cold storage facilities and storage area were supplied and installed by FN hotelaria.

In this restaurant, sharing is part of the concept and the atmosphere is informal. The menu will have variations, but will retain the classics. The space has capacity for 40 customers, with a waiting area prepared for 15 people.

Chef Tiago Penão also leads Kappo, which was awarded a Michelin star in 2026.
